Conceptual Model

This image is diagrammatic of the external turbine which leads to the generator that services the prototype.

Conceptual Model

This is an aerial view of the prototype and the surrounds. It shows to the extent that the building is submerged. It also shows the cylindrical vents which expel heat from the building.

Conceptual Model

This image outlines the entry point of the building. It also shows the large louvre system on the roof, which acts to let diffuse natural light into the internal spaces. It also acts as a means for passive ventilation of the subterranean dwelling.

Conceptual Model

This is a sectional view through our prototype. It clearly shows the generator on the exterior of the building, with cables leading below the building and eventually to the external turbine above the terrain.

Team terra town

Our team was able to successfully manage this project, creating terra town in response to the rangsit students second life work and concepts. We quickly allocated tasks to each member, with Chris acting as our chief researcher, Gemma and Julie our CAD tcehnicians and Brooke and Tessa our blogging team. This early allocation of tasks ensured all requirements were completed on schedule and to plan. It was also imperative to the function of our group that we met up regularly in order to share ideas and show individual progress. At times when we could not physically meet, which was often, due to work commitments and full university timetables, we made use of communication tools such as Skype, email, Facebook and MSN messenger.

Blogging

Day 8

Blogging team Brooke and Tessa compiled blogs and uploaded relevant images to blogspot. The blogging process has been made more accurate with the option of editing and updating blogs as work progresses. Due to this ability the blogging team have been able to outline our group collaboration in a series of succinct and to-the-point blogs. It has also been a successful collaborative experience as both Tessa and Brooke are avid users of Facebook and have used it's "chat" application on a number of occasions to discuss the progression of the blog.

CAD

Day 7

Today the CAD technicians Gemma and Julie began the process of inserting our protoype terra town into archicad 12. Gemma was allocated modelling of the prototype while Julie was allocated rendering the required images for our submission. The two Cad technicians worked from their homes separately and collaborated over the internet by transferring files and updating one another's interpretations of our conceptual design. They decided to use colour diagramatically within the 3D model to represent the hot terrain surface and the proposed sustainable design technologies.
